Cosmata Lindie

Cosmata Lindie, an Indigenous artist and writer, hails from Kwakwani, upper Berbice River, now residing in New Amsterdam, Berbice. She’s a self-taught artist, nurturing her passion since childhood, primarily in oil painting, with occasional forays into acrylics, pencils, and watercolors. Her influences range from Classical to Impressionism and Surrealism.
In 2022, as a member of the Guyana Women Artists’ Association (GWAA), she began showcasing her art nationally, including exhibitions at the National Gallery of Art – Castellani House. In March 2023, she exhibited in Paramaribo, Suriname, as part of the joint Guyana/Suriname Art Splash exhibition.
Cosmata is also a writer, with short stories published in Stabroek News. She earned recognition, including a longlisting in the 2022 Brooklyn Caribbean Literary Festival’s Elizabeth Nunez short fiction award and a shortlisting for the 2023 Commonwealth Short Story Prize.
