Ransford Simon

Ransford Simon is a Guyanese artist who hails from the small village of Rewa in the Rupununi Savannahs. Upon discovering his talent and love for art at a young age, he began pursuing this passion using his village and nature as inspiration. Ransford aims to use his art as a way of communicating with his ancestors and the spirits of the forest.
The 22 year old Macushi attended Rewa Primary and Annai Secondary Schools in the North Rupununi, before being awarded a scholarship to the E.R. Burrowes School of Art, where he attained a Certificate in Painting and a minor in Sculpture.
Ransford’s work has been displayed at the Rupununi Music and Art Festival, Onhare Indigenous Festival, the Rewa Eco-Lodge and the Heritage Exhibition at the National Gallery, Castellani House -where he continued to exhibit for 2 years .
Ransford -an avid volunteer- is a member of the Moving Circle of Artists and gives back to his community by conducting workshops, mural and sculpture projects. He also collaborated with the University of Guyana Leo’s Club and was chosen as a Youth Ambassador for the National Rights of the Child Commission.
